Chain conveyors are designed for the transport of various compact loads and unit goods, such as:
- Boxes and crates,
- Pallet boxes and frames,
- Barrels and drums,
- Cases and chests,
- Bags and sacks,
- Palletized goods,
- Logs, boards, etc.
They are most widely used in logistics, on production and packaging lines, and in sawmills where goods are transported either in the aforementioned types of packaging or are unit loads by nature.
Advantages and Features
Cost-Effectiveness: Chain conveyors are more affordable to purchase and maintain than most other conveyor types.
Operating Speed: Transport speeds typically range from 0.05 to 0.2 m/s, generally not exceeding 0.5 m/s.
Low Wear: The chains slide on polymer wear strips (liners) to minimize friction and wear on both the chains and the guide channels. Chains can be additionally lubricated.
High Load Capacity: They can be designed for very high capacities—for example, pallets with loads weighing up to 1,000 kg.
Specialized Designs
Directional Changes: If a change of direction is required along the transport path, the conveyor frame can be designed with manual or powered rotation at any angle to redirect the flow of goods or navigate curves.
Elevation Changes: If a change in height is necessary along the route, the conveyor body can be designed with lifting and lowering capabilities (SEE VIDEO BELOW).
Custom Engineering and Manufacturing
The dimensions of the conveyor (width, length, and height), the number of chains, tensioning methods, frame design, and other structural features are fully customized to meet the specific requirements of the task.
HERBAS d.o.o. has successfully implemented systems with:
- Lengths up to 50 m,
- Load capacities up to 1,000 kg per unit,
- Features such as rotation (direction change), lifting/lowering (elevation change),
- Integration of various sensors and automation elements.
