At the end of 2024, we developed, designed, manufactured and put into operation a completely new line in a separate facility of a Kutjevo winery – a line for processing grape pomace.

This was a challenging project, but extremely successful. Already in 2025, we delivered a second and larger line outside the borders of Croatia.

Given the relatively large input capacity of 1 t/h, over 250 t of pomace can easily be processed per season in average Croatian conditions. This is the second year this line in Kutjevo has been processing pomace from our own and other Kutjevo vineyards.

Are you wondering what is obtained from processing?

Clean and dried grape seeds from which the valuable cold-pressed oil is obtained.

Grinding the dried part of the skin produces a powder of a certain fineness for various purposes, as a natural ingredient for the food industry, pharmaceutical industry, etc.

Raw material for high-quality grape skin from clean, moist skin. This is not the grape skin we are used to.

In addition, dry seeds and skin from conventional, and even more so organic cultivation, are highly sought-after goods on the European and world markets. Although the finalization of the product brings the greatest benefit (ROI, i.e. the return on investment period is 1-2 years!), the sale of only these separated, cleaned and dried fractions greatly exceeds operating costs.

Croatia has enormous potential. According to data from the APPRR, in Croatia in 2025 there were 1201 ha of organic vineyards out of a total of 12861 ha of vineyards.

By increasing the pomace processing capacity, the economic profitability of grapevine cultivation could be significantly increased and the risk reduced by diversifying the business. The main advantage of this way of doing business is the almost free input raw material from which high-value products are obtained.

Therefore, we believe in the future of this technology. We hope that primarily Croatian winemakers and grape growers will recognize the potential that this line offers. Since Croatian winemakers have no problem marketing Croatian wines known for their quality to foreign markets, we believe that they can do the same with cold-pressed grape seed oil, grape skin powder or high-quality pomace.
