After reaping the tops of the plants (inflorescences) or stripping, industrial hemp is dried at around 8% humidity. The most common method of drying hemp inflorescences is using floor chamber dryers or chamber dryers that enable filling appropriate containers. The entire drying process may take up to 36 hours, depending on the surface humidity of the hemp, moisture content in the surrounding air and the drying technology. The input for the production line is hemp with a 10% moisture content, while the output can be several different fractions: stems, flowers or 0–3 mm leaves (as a material used for CBD extraction), seeds and dust.
